Name: Phillip Matthews
Title: Security Consultant
 Mr Phil Matthews – former Deputy Director SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency) now the NCA (National Crime Agency) Phil has held many senior rolls on homeland security, based around the world. He now consults numerous large corporation on global crime intelligence, terrorism and security.

EMA Scotland Kicks off in Edinburgh

The Event Marketing Association ‘EMA’ is the UK Events Industry Association exclusively for corporate in-house event planners & marketers. A member ran association, currently London centric network with over 200 members. EMA Scotland has launched as a natural progression and we hope to make this chapter as successful and strong as the London region chapter is.


EMA was set up in November 2013 as the evolution of COPE-UK an informal network for corporate planners founded in 2008 by Elisabeth Kaufman DeTone of Institutional Investors and a small group of senior corporate event planners in London.


EMA is led by a council made up of senior corporate event practitioners under the chairmanship of industry veteran Richard Waddington. We employ a manager to support the council through managing logistics, membership, communications and member liaison.

Our July event will be held at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park where we will discuss the Power of Experiential and how experiences create memories and move audiences on b2b and b2c level.

The discussiong will be lead by Emma Stoker of Barclays who will be speaking to Milo Gabric, formerly from Rolls-Royce about the events he has produced to date and what made them successful.

Born and raised in South Africa, Milo began his career with in the world of sports marketing and events with Worldsport Group. He worked on delivering global events while gaining a strong understanding of the value associated with sponsorship and large scale public event experiences for brands such as Red Bull, Volvo, J&B and Land Rover. His time there saw him work on projects as diverse as the ICC Cricket World Cup, Volvo Ocean Race and the US PGA Tour’s Presidents Cup. He then began working for Goose Communications, delivering a broad range of corporate events for clients such as Unilever, AstraZeneca and Whitbread with one of his primary clients being Bentley Motors, where he produced and oversaw a variety of their Global Media Launch Programmes. After 9 years at Goose, Milo moved to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, to a newly created strategic role as Arts, Experiential Events and Partnerships Manager for Europe, where for the last 3 years he has been in charge of producing and delivering their UK and European events programme and focusing on creating events, partnerships and strategies to help the brand continue its growth and prominence in the Luxury segment while being able to engage and connect with new and younger potential customers.

James Morgan, CSEP - Dr Morgan has been involved in marketing and producing events since 1989. He is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Events at the University of Westminster, London and the Founder of Event Tech Lab, a partnership community for event technology providers, developers, event professionals and investors. He volunteers for the International Live Events Association on the Education Council. As a respected speaker, writer and industry commentator, James has judged industry awards internationally and is passionate about educating the event professionals of the future. He takes an avid interest in promoting quality standards and professionalism in the events industry.

Chetan Shah, Micebook - Founder & CEO of - MICEBOOK is the online SRM (supplier relationship management) tool that allows MICE buyers from agencies, corporates and associations to source suppliers around the world, make and share notes with colleagues whilst building their personal data bank of knowledge.  EMA are working with micebook to create an EMA member group where we can collaborate and share knowledge with one another in our closed group.
